It is said that Japanese people are shy and not good at expressing their feelings. However, Japanese language has various emotional adjectives. The followings are basic ones. Let's learn them and express your feelings in Japanese. *() means (formal) or  (casual / formal) 

Positive Feelings in Japanese

嬉うれしい / glad, happy

嬉うれしい( です)。 I'm glad / happy.
会あえて嬉うれしい(です)。 I'm glad / happy to meet you.
今日きょうが一年いちねんで一番いちばん嬉うれしい(です)。 Today is the happiest day of the year.

楽たのしい / enjoyable

今日きょうは楽たのしかった(です)。 I had a very good time today.
野や球きゅうは楽たのしそう(だ / です)。 Baseball looks fun.
田た中なかさんは一緒いっしょにいてとても楽たのしい(です)。 Mr. Tanaka is great fun to be with.

面白おもしろい / interesting, amusing, entertaining, exciting, funny

この芸人げいにんはとても面白おもしろい/可笑おかしい(です)! This comedian is so funny!
その本ほんは面白おもしろい(です)。 The book is interesting.
このマンガは面白おもしろい(です)。 This manga is exciting.

愛いとおしい / lovely, adorable, sweet

生うまれたばかりの娘むすめが愛いとおしい(です)。 My newborn daughter is so adorable.
あなたが愛いとおしい(です)。 I adore you.
うちのネコは本当ほんとうに愛いとおしい(かわいい)。 My cat is so sweet.

安心あんしんする / relieved, easy (ほっとする、落おち着つく様子ようす)

それを聞きいて安心あんしんです。 I'm relieved to hear it.
あなたが無事ぶじだと知しってほっとした(しました)。 I was relieved to know you were ok.
この部屋へやはとても落おち着つく(着つきます)。 This room makes me so relaxed.

感激かんげきする、感動かんどうする / impressed, moved, touching

この小説しょうせつには本当ほんとうに感動かんどうした(しました)。 I was deeply moved by this novel.
お誕生日たんじょうびに花束はなたばを頂いただいて感激かんげきした(しました)。 It was so touching to receive the bouquet on my birthday.

Negative Feelings in Japanese

腹はらが立たつ、怒おこる / angry, mad

さっきは腹はらが立たった(立たちました)。 I got really mad for awhile ago.
彼かれは私わたしに対たいして少すこし怒おこっている(います)。 He is a bit angry with me.
ここの店員てんいんの態度たいどが悪わるくて腹はらが立たつ(立たちます)。 I'm mad at the clerk here because of her bad attitude.

苛々いらいらする、鬱陶うっとうしい、うざい / annoyed, bothering

この渋滞じゅうたいに毎朝まいあさ本当ほんとうに苛いらつく(つきます)。 This traffic jam really annoys me every morning.
迷惑めいわくメールが多おおくてとてもうざい(です)。 It's so irritating to receive lots of SPAM mails.
夏なつの蒸むし暑あつさと虫むしは鬱陶うっとうしい(です)。 Sultry and bugs in summer are annoying.

寂さびしい / lonely

寂さびしい(です)。 I'm lonely.
一人ひとりで寂さびしい(です) 。 I am alone and lonely.

怖こわい / terrible, fearful, horrible

怖こわい(です)。 I'm scared.

悲かなしい / sad

悲かなしい(です)。 I'm sad.

急きゅうに悲かなしくなって(きた / きました)。 I suddenly became sad.

つらい / tough, painful, bitter

これは今いままでで一番いちばんつらい仕し事ごとだった。 This is the toughest work I have ever done.
泣なくのを見みるのはつらい(よ / です)。 It's painful to see you crying. 
彼女かのじょと別わかれるのはつらかった(です)。 It was heartbreaking to part with her.

うらやましい / envious, jealous 

ああ、うらやましい! How I envy you!
鈴すず木きさんがうらやましい(です)。 I'm envious of Mr. Suzuki.
私わたしは姉あねに嫉しっ妬として(いた / いました)。 I was jealous of my older sister.

かわいそう / poor, pitiful 

かわいそうに。 What a pity!
佐さ藤とうさんがかわいそう(だよ / ですよ)。 I feel sorry for Ms. Sato.
かわいそうだから、これをあげるよ。 I will give you this out of charity.
