むかしあるところに、ジャックという男の子がいました。ジャックはお母さんと一緒に小さな家に住んでいました。二人は牛のミルクを売って生活していましたが、あまりお金を持っていません。ある日、牛からミルクが出なくなって、とうとう牛を売ることにしました。「必ず高く売ってきて。」お母さんはジャックに言いました。「もちろん。」ジャックはそう言って、お店へ向かいました。お店への道の途中で、ジャックはふしぎなおじいさんに会いました。おじいさんは言いました。「おはよう、ジャック。どこに行くの？」ジャックは、なんでぼくの名前を知っているの？と思いながら答えました。「この牛を売りにお店へ行くんだよ。」
English Translation
Once upon a time, there was a boy named Jack. Jack lived with his mother in a little house. They lived on selling milk given by a cow, but they have little money. One day, the cow gave no milk and they finally decided to sell the cow. “Make sure to sell it at a good price.” Jack’s mother said to him. “Sure,” Jack said and headed toward a shop. On his way to the shop, Jack met a mysterious old man. The old man said, “Good morning, Jack. Where are you going?” While Jack was wondering why the old man knew his name, he replied, “I’m going to the shop to sell this cow.”
