Lesson 5-9: 走はしれメロス / Run, Melos!

太陽たいようが消きえる前まえに、メロスはお城しろに着つきました。メロスは間まに合あったのです。「待まて。その人ひとを殺ころしてはいけない。メロスが帰かえって来きた。いま帰かえって来きた。」メロスはそう言いおうとしましたが、とても疲つかれていて、話はなすことができません。メロスはもう一いち度ど言いいました。「待まて。殺ころされるのは私わたしだ。メロスだ。」メロスはセリヌンティウスに向むかって走はしりました。メロスはとうとうセリヌンティウスを助たすけることができました。メロスは泣なきながら言いいました。「私わたしを叩たたけ。私わたしは途と中ちゅうで一いち度ど、悪わるい夢ゆめを見みた。私わたしは一いち度どあなたを助たすけることをあきらめた。」

English Translation

Before the sun disappeared, Melos arrived at the castle. Melos was in time. “Wait. You must not kill him. I’m back. I’m back now,” Melos tried to say, but he was very tired and couldn’t speak. Melos said once again, “Wait. I am the one who will be killed. It’s Melos.” Melos ran toward Selinuntius. Melos could finally save Selinuntius. Melos said while crying, “Slap me. I had a bad dream on the way. I gave up saving you for a while.”
